Fit India Week 2024, a flagship program of the Fit India Movement was observed in IIT Bombay to observe the Fit India Week program. During Fit India Week, a diverse range of events and activities are organized to encourage participation and promote healthy living. IIT Bombay participated and won Silver in the water polo competition and third overall among all IITs at the Inter-IIT Aquatics Meet hosted by IIT Gandhinagar IIT Bombay Half marathon was organized at IIT Bombay with a record 4000 plus participants and 1000 plus in just 21k half marathon. NSO Classes for first-year B.Tech students were conducted in various disciplines and guided them with proper teaching of the game, its rules and regulations and skills. Table tennis, lawn tennis, squash, badminton, basketball, volleyball, football, hockey, cricket, weight training, and swimming were among the games. NSO Classes provide appropriate instruction of the game's rules, regulations for first-year B.Tech students in a variety of fields. Staff/Faculty members and IIT Bombay community participated in various conditioning and training sessions enthusiasitically. Due to internships, students’ participation was a little less. Internal competitions ‘Freshiesta’ for First years were conducted to encourage their participation in sports and fitness. |

As all the outdoor facilities were closed due to the monsoon, all activities were managed indoors. Student's activities were only in the form of NSO selection and team practices. Staff/Faculty and IIT Bombay community participated in various conditioning and training sessions. All NSO trials and tests were conducted in the month of August for all first-year students who had opted for NSO. - All events were conducted indoors due to monsoon. - NSO classes were not held for first-year students were on their semester breaks. Only team practises were used as student activities. - Due to summer vacation and internships, student involvement was noticeably lower than in previous months. 27th Inter-IIT Staff Sports Meet IIT Bombay Staff Contingent participated in 27th Inter-IIT Staff Sports Meet held at IIT Delhi during December 24-29, 2022. The meet was hosted by IIT Delhi. 21 different IIT’s staff contingent participated with a total contingent size of approx. 1300 (both men and women). The meet was inagugurated on December 24, 2022 with the Parade by all the 21 IIT staff Contingent. The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony was Shri Manjit Singh Dua, an Arjuna awardee table tennis player who have represented India in Olympics. 72 staff & Faculty from different departments of IIT Bombay (62 Male & 10 Female) participated in 9 sports; Athletics (Men & Women), Badminton (Men & Women), Basketball(Men), Cricket (Men), Football (Men), Squash (Men), Lawn Tennis (Men), Table Tennis (Men & Women) and Volleyball (Men). IIT Bombay secured second place in overall Championship (combined both Men and Women) and IIT Bombay Staff Men team stood second in General championship (Men). For more click here |

55th Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2022 The 55th Inter-IIT Sports Meet was jointly organised by IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee after a gap of three years during December 14-22, 2022 at IIT Delhi. IIT Bombay contingent including 162 students along with sports officers, coaches and staff has made the Institute proud at the 55th Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2022. The student team stands fifth in the Overall Championship. |

Fit India Movement Freedom Run 2.0 The Fit India Movement Freedom Run 2.0 took place in the premises of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay on the August 14, 2021 as part of celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (Celebration of 75 years of Independence). It was a short run that spanned around the campus with the route spanning 3.2 kms for men and 2 kms for women. The event saw a total of 85 people participate in the race. A registration-cum-safety desk was set up to ensure the smooth handling of the event. The main objective of the run was to ensure safe physical activity and it was met through the extensive and strict enforcement of Covid protocols throughout the run. All participants were maintaining social distance at all times and were required to wear masks at all places with crowding. The staff and student representatives managing the event were also completely masked up and ensured the same. The participants ran enthusiastically towards the finish. There was an entire spectrum of ages with a 6-year-old child finishing the 2km and an old couple completing the race! The organising student and staff community handed over the prizes to the winners and thanked all the participants for their continued enthusiasm and association with sport.
